Founded in 1850 by Fr. Francis de Sales Brunner, a priest of the Society of the Most Precious Blood, Sorrowful Mother Shrine was established as a place for spiritual pilgrimages to pay tribute to the Sorrowful Mother. The shrine is plotted on 120 acres of woodlands with paved walkways, Stations of the Cross and replicas of the Lourdes and Sepulcher Grottos.
